Who We Are
An Ethiopian Non-Profit Built
by Rural Development
Professionals
ASDA was established in 2003 by a group of rural development professionals and is registered with the FDRE Authority for Civil Society Organizations under certificate No. 0247. Field work began in 2006 in Dodota Woreda, around the Dhera Block of the Arsi Mountains National Park.

What We Do
Programmes that Join Up
Food, Income and Environment
ASDA works through integrated, community-led programmes rather than single-sector projects — because a household's food, income and natural resource base rise and fall together.
Climate-Smart Agriculture
Irrigated vegetables, poultry, small ruminant and cattle fattening, and nutrition-sensitive farming.
Natural Resource Management
Participatory watershed development, land reclamation, climate change adaptation and resilience building.
Biodiversity & Eco-Tourism
Community-based conservation around the Arsi Mountains, and eco-tourism enterprise for park-edge villages.
Women & Youth Enterprise
Fuel-efficient stove production, seedling nurseries, poultry and petty trading groups run by women and young people.
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
Rural water supply schemes, small-scale irrigation and watering points that also serve wildlife.
Disaster Risk Reduction
Humanitarian response, recovery and rehabilitation linked back into long-term development.
